The Skischule & Snowboardschule im Snow & Alpine Center Zermatt (027-966-2466; fax 027-966-2464) has more than 250 qualified instructors and mountain guides who teach in the traditional Swiss ski school system.

Adults & Children Each additional skier Private Lessons for the Skischule & Snowboardschule im Snow & Alpine Center Zermatt.

Private skiing lessons are for 1 or 2 people and are between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Full day private lessons (5 hours) allow the skiier to designate the meeting place, skiing area and the time of lessons. At lunchtime you will have a break of about 1 hour, usually in a mountain restaurant.

There are also 2 and 3-hour half day lessons which have a designated meeting point and times. Meeting point: Sunnegga top, in front of the Restaurant or at Riffelberg station. Lessons begin: at 9:30 a.m. / 12:00 a.m. / 1 p.m. The two hour lesson also has an addtional class that meets at 2 p.m.

Note: Snowboarding lessons cost the same but the meeting place is Blauherd, Snow Bar.

Lessons are given every Monday from 19th of Dec. 2004 – 17th of April 2005, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with a lunch break of approx. 1 hour.

*Three-day lessons take place every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Classes meet Monday / Tuesday between 9:00 – 9:15 a.m. at the Tourist Office. Wednesday to Friday Sunnegga Express. Then they take a train ride to the skiing area.

Skiing lesson from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., with 1 hour of lunch break. After lessons children return to Zermatt at around 3:30-3:45 p.m.

Children ski race: Friday big children ski race for all classes at Sunnegga with price giving ceremony.

To enroll in one of the Matterhorn Ski Weeks, write in advance to the tourist office and request enrollment forms. The packages are for both beginners and experts skiers as well as for carving enthusiasts. There is a special Top-Class given by ski-instructors/mountain-guides for all powder hounds and off-piste enthusiasts.The price (including five-day ski pass) is approximately €673–€1,580 with accommodations. Package price includes: seven overnight stays at the hotel or apartment of your choice; ski lessons (6 days, Sunday 'till Friday); seven-day skipass and ski bus for the International Ski area Zermatt-Cervinia; and seven days of ski testing or a shopping voucher (value about €80).

“The Haute Route” is a classic ski adventure tour be-tween Saas-Fee, Zermatt, Courmayeur and Chamonix. These trips are organized from mid-April through the end of May. These are tough, physical treks, and participants should be in good shape for high-altitude ski-climbing and must be able to ski in deep snow. The tour is normally conducted from mid-May to the first week in June. Cost is approximately €1060, which includes guides, accommodation in mountain huts, meals, hotel expenses and mountain railway and bus fares. Tour Monte Rosa is two to five days of skiing from Grachen to Zermatt. These trips start in the middle of June and end in September. Price ranges from about €72–€327 and includes accommodations and luggage transportation. For more information contact Zermatt Tourism.
