Chalet d’Adrien (027 771 62 00; fax 027 771 62 24; €€€; photo left) dominates Verbier. There is something for everyone here and visitors pay a hefty price for it. This hotel also has apartments with hotel service. It is next to the Savoleyres gondola.

Rosalp (027 771 63 23; fax 027 771 10 59; €€€), near the top of the Le Chable gondola, is perhaps the most luxurious hotel in town. Open those wallets wide. The restaurant here is by far the best in town with a Michelin star.

Montpelier (027 771 61 31; fax 027 771 46 89; €€€) is in an imposing chalet near the sports complex. It has an exceptional restaurant.

Le Mazot (027 775 35 50; fax 027 771 35 55; €€€) is in a modern chalet-style building with neo-rustic furnishings. It is near the swimming pool. A Mazot is a barn balanced on stone columns to keep the mice out of the winter grain.

Rhodania (027 771 61 21; fax 027 771 52 54; €€) in a chalet-style, four-star hotel in the middle of town that's ideal for families.

Les 4 Vallées (027 775 33 44; fax 027 775 33 45; €€€) is a B&B with 20 rooms across from the Rosalp.

La Rotonde (027 771 65 25; fax 027 771 27 12: €€) is a B&B in the heart of the town with each room decorated in a different style. It is next to the swimming pool.

Ermitage (027 771 64 77; fax 027 771 52 64; €€) can’t be more centrally located. It is across from the tourist office in the center of town.

There is a Bomb shelter turned cheap hotel called The Bunker (027 771 66 02, fax 027 771 66 03), inside the sports center with rates of about €25 per night for bed; breakfast; whirlpool, ice-rink and pool access; digital TV and video; showers; and locker. A nearby public bus stop takes you to the ski area. Bring your own sleeping bag and for a few euros more you can also have access to a sauna; tennis and squash; public telephone; internet access; and the bar.

Vanessa (027 775 28 00; fax 027 775 28 28; €€€; photo below) has all the creature comforts of a four-star hotel including a restaurant, piano bar and a guest-only sauna-whirlpool.

Apartments, condominiums, flats
For a list of apartments and their availability. got to www.verbier.ch and enter details on the number of beds required, the preferred number of rooms, and the dates you plan to be there. Se-lect the apartment you want and contact the owner di-rectly. Minimum stays are normally one week, Saturday to Saturday (in Christmas season the minimum is two weeks).

Bed linen, towels and kitchen utensils are usually provided. Other communal or private amenities, such as swimming pool, sauna, TV or room phone, all add to the cost. Apartments rent for €450–€550 per person per week in high season. Prices vary significantly by season.
