The nightlife in Val Thorens used to be limited, but now you can choose from three discos that don’t start until after midnight and keep on throbbing until 4 a.m., or you can drink in one of ten pubs. Those hot to trot head for Beach Mountain nightclub, which has a €15 cover (one drink included). Prepare yourself for outrageous prices, by U.S. standards, if you plan on drinking much. Bar Malaysia just outside the tourist office is a surprise. Don’t let the small entranceway fool you: the bar itself is underground, and very classy. The live music tends toward the avant-garde, and there are pool tables (€5–€11 per drink, no cover). The Ski Rock Cafe, Gringo’s, the Frog and Roast Beef, and the Viking all have lively action.
