The Holiday Region St. Johann has pushed hard to expand its rec-reational activities. The Panoramabad complex features a 25-meter heated pool, a wellness area with sauna and steamrooms, a long water slide to keep kids and the kids-in-us happy, a wading pool and an ice skating rink.The Kaiserquell in Kirchdorf offers sauna and steambath with all kinds of well-ness features as well as massages at the Vital & Beauty Center.

Indoor tennis (62625 or 63156 or 8138) is a popular activity.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides cost approximately €12 per person at the Hinterkaiser (63325). Horse drawn sleigh rides also leave from St. Johanner Hof (05352/62207), Othmar Krisch (05352/62759), Landgut Furtherwirt (63150), Kramerhof (6901, Ober-habachhof (63168) Tischlerhof ( 64135) and Hanneshof (8186).

In St. Johann, there is a great lighted toboggan/rodel run from Hochfeld/Hirschberg down the mountain. It is open until midnight everyday, with lifts operating from 7–9:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Night skiing is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7-9:30 p.m from the Hochfeld double chairlift and on the Rueppen-run. It’s also available on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. off the Eichenhof drag lift I on the Eichenhof run I.

There are Kegelbahns in the Hotel Goldener Lowe (62251) and in the Tennis Kegel Center (63377). For hot-air balloon rides call Ballooning Tyrol (0664/3420115). They cost €180 per person. For tandem paragliding, try Mountain High (0664/2415561) for €99 per person.

The town itself is beautiful to look at, with one Tyrolean house after another pre-senting traditional Austrian scenes and motifs painted on the exterior walls.
