Cross-Country

Well-laid-out, groomed trails extend in two opposite directions from St. Johann. The Koasastadion Ski Touring Center provides good maps, rentals and a starting base. The trails offer pleasant rolling terrain, a taste of backcountry woods (if not all that extensive) and a plenty of traditional inns along the way for lunch, rest and refreshment. The Holiday Region which includes St. Johann, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf has a total of 275 km. of set trails that are basically divided equally between expert, intermediate and beginner. Then there are the adjoining trails to Going and Ellmau which can link another 60 km. of trails to the area. No cross-country skier can cruise all these trails in a dedicated week.
