Mountain Layout — Snowboarding

This has been rated as a good place to try snowboarding. The slopes are relatively gentle. There is a fun park in Westendorf and a halfpipe in Kelchsau. New for the 2005/06 season: a terrain park has been added in Ellmau. The snowboard schools here get accolades for their beginning and carving programs.

Most boarders will stay on the north side of Hohe Salve. That’s where the best snow stays as well as the most interesting trails. Some of the steepest terrain is around Scheffau, but other than that is all easy stuff. Pray for a big snowfall the day before you arrive.
