Snowtubing is available for €15 for three rides. Dogsledding can be arranged at a cost of €38 for a half-hour trip. Snowmobiling is also possible for €42 for a 20-minute jaunt on your own, or €32 if you go with a guided group.

The location is what makes this resort so special. Within an hour you can reach Granada and visit the fabulous Alhambra (photo right) and the old center of the city. Malaga is only about two hours away, and the Costa del Sol—its chalk-white towns like Salobreña clutching small hilltops—is even closer. Excursions can be made to Jaen, with its massive cathedral and Moorish baths, or Gaudix and Purullena with their troglodyte villages. At nearby Lacalahorra castle you will have to find the gate-keeper in the town below the castle before heading up the hill.

During the spring, golf is one of the major activities of this area. There are more than 30 courses lining the Costa del Sol within a two-hour drive.
