Lessons (2007/08 prices)

There are 18 ski schools. The three main schools are the Ski School Hochwurzen-Planai (23583, fax 613434, www.hopl.at); Ski School Tritscher (22137, fax 611426. www.tritscher.at); and Blue Tomato Snowboard School (24223-16, fax 22474, www.blue-tomato.at/snowboardschule).

The following prices are for skiing lessons from the Ski School Hochwurzen-Planai.

Private lessons for one or two people in the morning cost €96; in the afternoon, €86 and for 4 hours, €185 per person.

Group lessons for one day cost €45, for two days €90; for three days, €115.

Children’s group lessons with lunch break and playtime —€60, one day; €163, three days and €204, five days.

Snowboard lessons are available from the Blue Tomato (24223-16, fax 22474) Beginners with their own equipment cost for three days €119 (€167 for children); the price including boot and board is €175 (€232 for children). For a five-day course adults cost €151 (€219 for children); the price including boot and board is €225 (€303 for children).

Private lessons costs €50 (€75 with equipment rental) for an hour; €95 (€123 with equipment rental) for two hours and €180 (€212 with equipment rental) for a day (four hours).

A three-day freestyle snowboard course for those with their own equipment is around €119 and the five day freestyle program is €151. There are courses for carving and twin tip skiing as well.
