Silberstein trail in Obertal - rated intermediate 19 km Trail Map in pdf format
Silberstein trail (or the Silverstone trail) offers deep snow and the classic and skating fan will feel great skiing on a length of 19 km. Getting to the starting point in the car park at Andenbacher, Obertal-West is a little tricky. Start at Rohrmooser Erlebniswelt and ski south, passing Gasthof Braunhofer. Then cross the Rohrmoos-Süd street and take a go downhill (a short, but difficult 300 m) to the entrance point Andenbacher (car park). The trail goes past the Windbacherstube snack bar and into Obertal. If you want to avoid the difficult downhill from Rohrmoos to the entrance point Andenbacher, you can go to the turn-off Tälerstraße/Ahornweg by car or bus and enter the trail there. Bus stop and car park are next to the entrance point.

From Haus Bärenhofer there is one trail on each side of the Obertal-river going on to the snack-bar Wehrhofalm. Go to the left side at Wehrhofalm for the easier route which will take you to Haus Tauerngold. Go to the right if you prefer the challenge of the short steep and difficult downhill descent that you will have to take before reaching Haus Tauerngold.

The skating trail is dissected next to the classic trail between entrance point Andenbacher and the melting furnace.

Crystal-trails in Untertal - rated easy to intermediate Trail Map in pdf format
The crystal-trails are comprised of a classic trail (32 km) and a skating trail (4.5 km). The 32 km of classic trail is broken up into two section. The first 17 kilometers from Windbacherstube snack bar to the car park and bus stop in Hinkerbrücke is generally open for most of the season, but the second part of the trail, the 15 kilometers from Hinkerbrücke to Granglalm and back again are only open during good snow conditions.

The crystal trails actually branches off the Silberstein trail. From Rohrmoos ski the Silberstein trail until you reach the Windbacherstube snack-bar, turn left and go through the forest, then turn left again and cross the street into Untertal village. From there the trail leads over a bridge and into Hinkerbrücke.

During good snow conditions you can continue from Hinkerbrücke to the Gasthof Tetter. Once you take the short descent into the scenic attractive Tettermoor, there are two trails, which meet again after short distance. One path will take you to Waldhäuslalm (car park, bus stop); the other to Sondlalm.

At the turn-off to Sondlalm there is the start for the Untertal trail. Head right over the bridge to Sondlalm, through the forest and pass Angereralm again over a bridge. If you go on you'll reach Gasthof Weiße Wand and further you'll reach the car park (only summer) near the Riesach waterfalls. To the right over a bridge you reach Granglalm and the end of the trail.
