Saas-Fee is a village of very narrow streets, wooden chalets, small hotels and year-round skiing.
Its for serious skiersthe ones who care more about the number of black-rated runs on the mountain than the number of discos in the village. Nestled in the next valley from Zermatt, Saas-Fee allows no private cars in town; you park on the outskirts and take public transportation.
The town occupies a magnificent site at 5,904 feet, ringed by 13 separate peaks of 13,000 feet or more. Snowcaps on these mountains are permanent, as is skiing on the Allalin. Saas-Fee also has its own snowmaking equipment on the beginner slopes below. That, combined with the glacier runs above, means that your vacation will never be in danger from poor snowfall.
