Try an afternoon excursion by horse-drawn sleigh. Lindlingalm offers tours that include a stop for a tradi-tional Austrian lunch (06541-7190). For an hour the ride costs €10.50 per person. For a half-hour ride the price is €6 per person. Lengauerhof is another option for sleigh rides. Prices (minimum 5 persons): one hour costs €11 per person and a half hour costs €6 per person. Ice-skaters and ice-hockey players should head past the Zwölferkogel gondola to the skating rink (Fam. Telawetz 06541 7403, fax: 06541 7403) at the end of the valley on the left. The entrance fee is only €3.

Speed Demons should definitely try toboganning. Prices start at €11. There are several options in the Saalbach area:

The Simalalm toboggan run is approx. 4.5 km long. The pick-up point is near Hotel Interstar in Jausern. It costs €13 and the price includes a pisten-bully transport up to the hut, toboggan rental, welcome drink. For more information contact Fam. The Spielberghaus run is about 3 km long and approximately a 45-minute walk to the Spielberghaus. The pick-up point is at "Saalbach Spielbergkurve" at the following times:  noon, 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m., 7.30 p.m., 8.15 p.m. and 9.15 p.m. (telephone advance notification requested). It costs €4 for just the toboggan rental. It costs €7 for the pisten-bully transport up to the hut and the toboggan rental. For more information contact Fam. Reiterkogel has a new flood-lit toboggan run for night skiing (photo left). Rent a toboggan at the bottom of the Reiterkogel cable car in the centre of Hinterglemm. Then ride the lift, which is open from Monday to Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., up to the run. The lift can be used with any valid ski pass. Toboggan rental: € 5/evening - Deposit: € 20.
