Snowboarding is extremely popular in the Oetztal. Their high-altitude terrain, nicknamed Freeride World Sölden, has secret stashes of powder (mainly in Rettenbach Glacier) and snowboard terrain that requires almost no trekking.

Beginners should take the runs in Giggijoch, while Gaislachkogl is the main mountain with steep terrain and challenging chutes. Tiefenbach Glacier is the beginning for some of the longest runs, but because of the crevasses and other hazards of this glacier be sure to hire a guide.

The Swatch SnowPark Sölden has more events than you can shake your board at. It also has 11 boxes, 6 rolls, 5 kickers, the Swatch Shoot and a chill-out area.

The six-hectar BASE Winter Park in Giggijoch has been created to international standards. Admission is free and the park is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It includes a halfpipe, bordercross, quarterpipe high jump, rails, diamonds, half-diamonds, fried egg, fun-box spins, jumps and a chill-out area.
