Megève, France

Mountain layout—Snowboarding

Megève generally caters to beginning and intermediate snowboarders, but advanced riders can find enough to keep busy in the two terrain parks or off piste on the Cote 2000 chairlift. All of the trails are groomed, so moguls aren’t a problem. There are two snow parks: one on Mont Joux and the other is on the Combloux section. The better of the two parks is on Mont Joux, which has a manmade pipe and an on-duty pro lending shovels to the kids constantly modifying and doctoring the jumps. On weekends the park offers music and the best local tricksters showing off their big air skills. Though Megève is generally not a destination for the younger crowd, as the final cost of even a few days vacation can substantially dent a budget, there are pubs and discos for anyone looking for a late-night party. Rental and tuning shops are abundant, and snowboarding lessons are readily available with the ski school.
