Megève, France

Despite the rustic atmosphere, Megève is modern in all aspects. Discos pulse and lights flash, keeping beat with the thumping music. The live entertainment ranges from France’s top singers and entertainers to local musicians and bands. It all continues until at least 4 a.m.

At Bar Cocoon, there’s a small dance floor, and if you’re lucky you might stumble upon some live music. For a little pasta and some tapas with your aperitif, try La Wake Up.

About 7 p.m., head to theDiscos don’t get rolling until after midnight, so don’t plan to tackle Megève nightlife after an eight o’clock dinner. If you’re looking for packed dance floors, you’re going to have to wait until about 1:30 a.m. Nonetheless, the village sparkles for as long as you let it.

About 10 p.m., head to the Jazz Club Les 5 Rues in the tiny back streets of Megève and prepare yourself for an atmosphere vibrating with great jazz. The Cave de Megève also has jazz.

The recently redecorated casino opens at 5 p.m., but doesn’t really get going until about midnight.

The two main discos are White Pearl and Palo Alto, situated right in the center of town so club hopping is easy. Be aware that visitors are expected to be dressed nicely in high season.

White Pearl is a standard disco; check the posters around town for theme nights. If you’re looking for action, reserve a table at Palo Alto (450 91 82 58) which is always ready to accommodate more people thanks to the walls, which expand and contract depending on the amount of people inside.
