Mayrhofen has an excellent indoor swimming pool and an ice skating rink. Skating is approximately €3 per hour for adults and €2.50 per hour for youths (age 16–19) and €2 for those age 15 and younger.

Tobogganing is the extracurricular activity of choice here, perhaps because it includes heavy drinking. Sledders hitch a ride to the Tuxer Valley in a motorcoach and ascend to the top of a 6-km. run at the Höllenstein Hütte (which appropriately means the hut built on hell’s stone). Skiers who feel a little lebensmüde (tired of life) can try heart-stopping flights over the Zillertal. About €65 will get you airborne. Three operators provide the tours.
