Mayrhofen including Hintertux and Tuxertal in the upper Zillertal, Austria

If you left your cross-country equipment at home, don’t worry. Rentals are less expensive than downhill equipment—€10 to €15 per day, depending on the store. Weekly discounts are always available.

Mayrhofen offers nine trails for a total of 30 km. All trails are rated easy, making this an ideal place to learn. Overall, cross-country opportunities are not really outstanding, especially for the more advanced. There can be a problem with snow cover at the low altitude. We suggest that cross-country skiers take the bus up to Tuxertal and cross-country ski on those trails. They normally have more snow cover.

Cross-country lessons generally cost the same as downhill instruction, and are usually offered privately. Your choices: Ski School Manfred Gager (63800), Ski School Mayrhofen Total (63939), Ski School Mayrhofen 3000 (64015) and Peter Habeler Ski and Alpine School (62829).
