Sightseeing: Once you are in Madonna, it is not an easy task to get out of the regionthe drive to the autostrada is is along a twisting-and-turning mountain road. But if you insist on breaking away, you can get to Venice in about three-and-one-half hours. Verona, with its giant Roman amphitheater and Romeo and Juliet balcony, is about two hours away. Vicenza with the wonderful Paladian villas is also about three hours away.
During the drive to Madonna, enjoy the multitude of castles that dot the Trentino countryside. The town of Trento has the Castello del Buon Consiglio (Castle of Good Counsel) that used to be home to prince-bishops. Today it is the Privincial Art Museum. The cathedral towers over a cobbled square and the Via Belenzani is lined with Venetian-styled palaces.
During Carnevale jjust before Lent, Madonna di Campiglio hosts many costume balls and special events.
