Dining
Madonna di Campiglio isnt up to par with resorts such as Courmayeur and Cortina d'Ampezzo when it comes to on- mountain dining. The refugi serve good risotto and meat you can grill on hot rocks, but they dont have a gourmet flair. You can, however, have a very good meal at Malga Montagnoli with full service.
With that said, one of the best experiences at this resort is taking a snowcat ride for a dinner up on the mountain at Malga Montagnoli (0465-443355), Boch (0465-440465), Malga Ritorto (0465-442470) or Cascina Zeledria (0465-440303). The latter may serve the best food, but all are excellent and great fun.
Down in the town recommended restaurants are:
Da Alfiero (0465-440117; photo above right) gets the nod as top dog in town from Michelin and has average prices of about €45. Sartini (0465-440122) where you can expect to pay €40. Another of the top spots to try is Al Sottobosco (0465-440737) about a km. out of town where meals will set you back about €40. Locanda degli Artisti (0465-442980) has wonderful ambiance and affordable food with a fixed price menu for less than €15. Both Belvedere (0465-440396) and Pappagallo (0465-442717) also have good food. A very plain place but a good value for meals is Ristorante al Sarca (0465-440287) where the fixed-price menu is €15. Lanterna dOro (0465-442104) serves good basic local cooking. Two good pizzerias are Le Roi (0465-443075) and Antico Focolare (0465-441686).
