Les Menuires started as a cluster of high-rise apartment buildings constructed for the sole purpose of the pursuit of skiing. Today that original cluster is a small part of a far larger resort that has expanded dramatically over the past decade.

The new construction has been carefully reviewed to create an Alpine atmosphere with plenty of wood and peaked roofs. Chalets have been built sheltering spacious apartments and shops without the square apartment complex feel. The expanded village has been created to keep cars out of the way. It offers one of the best family spots in the Les Trois Vallées.

The new town plan calls for a halt to new buildings and owners are being awarded grants to rennovate the existing buildings. Where rennovation is not cost effective, the resort is demolishing buildings and constructing new complexes on the same footprint.

This new approach is part of the resorts commitment to protecting the environment from further intrusion.

The the resort center, La Croisette, still serves as the resort focus and is a convenient meeting place for ski schools and children’s programs. Here the reort unfolds onto the crescent boardwalk of the central shopping mall and below the bus station acts as the village's transporation hub. Across from the station, the new sports center provides an excellent indoor swimming pool for families.

Above la Croisette is the massive apartment building that makes us the section of the resort known as Brelin.

Down valley, the area of Preyerand is filled with apartments for both visitors and local workers as well as a handful of hotels.

The newer up-valley satellite sections of Reberty-Les Bruyeres and Reberty have concentrated on smaller buildings built in community clusters.

The village of St. Martin de Belleville with its Baroque churches and pastoral aura, 8 km. down-valley from Les Menuires, offers hotel and pension accommodations and plenty of apartments. It is now connected with the entire Trois Vallées area with convenient lifts.
