La Clusaz, France

The nightlife in La Clusaz is happening on weekends, but, shall we say, dead on some weekdays. The older, more mature crowd hangs out at Le Salto or Le Pressoir, video bars with many beer choices; they are open until about 2 a.m. Le Caves du Pacally is comfortable, casual, hangout; open until 2 a.m. Bar Roc Café is a dim, cozy place in town groovin’ to 80s disco music. Bali Bar is a fun little bar that is usually packed with friendly people dancing to island music. Panama Café is a Tex-Mex bar with Cuban music.

Boarders and skiers of all ages head to either of the two disco/pub/nightclubs, both open until 5 a.m. Club 18 blasts loud music and is great for chilling or close quarter dancing. L’Ecluse (photo right) is also a great late-night hangout. The dance floor in this disco is not a floor but a thick sheet of glass, revealing the flowing waters of the town’s river. Both of these exclusive nightclubs have cover charges of about €12.
