Lessons (2007/08 prices)

All major resorts in the region have ski schools offering downhill, snowboarding and cross-country instruction.

Wengen has the Schweizer Ski School Wengen (033-855-2022), the Privat Ski and Snowboard School (033-855-5005) and the Ski and Snowboard School Kleine Scheidegg (033-855-1545).

The Schweizer Ski School is open Sunday to Friday. Ski and Snowboard group lessons for four or more people cost CHF50 for a half day (3 hours in the morning) and CHF230 for five half days. Private lessons have a maximum of four people and cost CHF145 (CHF160 in high season) for two hours; CHF215 (CHF235 in high season) for three hours and CHF335 (CHF370) for five hours (full day).

Mürren has the Schweizer Skischule Mürren (033-855-1247).

Group ski lessons cost about CHF50 for a two-hour lesson; CHF110 for six hours (three and a half days); CHF170 for ten hours (five days with ticket). Group snowboarding lessons cost about CHF50 for a two-hour lesson; CHF135 for six hours (three days with lift ticket); CHF190 for ten hours (five days with ticket). Private skiing or snowboarding lessons for one to four people cost CHF130 for one lesson (2 hours); and CHF325 for a full day. Each addtional person costs CHF15.

Grindelwald has the Swiss Ski and Snowbaord School Grindelwald (033-854-1280), the Buri Sport Private Ski- and Snowboard School (033-853-1427), Felix children ski school (033-853-1288), Privat-Ski.ch (033-853-0473) and Swiss Ski and Snowboard School Kleine Scheidegg (033-855-1545).

The Swiss Ski School offers group, private, snowboarding and freeriding, telemarking and cross country lessons as well as off-piste excursions. Adult group skiing lessons for four or more people cost CHF105 for one full day; CHF 275 for three days; and CHF 395 for five days. Adult group snowboarding lessons for four or more people cost CHF75 for one full day; CHF195 for three days; and CHF275 for five days. Adult private lessons for skiing, snowboarding, telemarking and cross-country lessons cost CHF75 for one hour: CHF210 for one morning (two-and-a-half-hours); CHF190 for one afternoon (two-and-a-half-hours): and CHF330 for a full day (5 hours).
