Lodging
While it may be more romantic to stay in one of the neighboring villages, the attraction of Innsbruck is that you can enjoy the benefits of a major city and one of Europes cultural capitals.

Igls
This is a pleasant spot but for vacationers, it doesnt offer a complete package. It is just too small, spread out and isolated. If you plan to stay there check out these hotels. Bring a car. Youll need it to keep from suffering from cabin fever and to move around the village. Bus connections to downtown Innsbruck are OK. Getting elsewhere is problematical with most buses requiring a connection in downtown Innsbruck. If you want this type of Alpine atmosphere, it is best to head to nearby Seefeld or Neustift where the village is concentrated and cohesive.
Sporthotel Igls (377241, fax 378679; www.sporthotel-igls.com; €€€) is in the center, directly across from the bus stop. One of the top places in Igls with an outdoor terrace for drinks and lunch as well as another at night for drinks and dancing. Restaurant is upscale Austrian.
