Geilo has a stellar collection of hotels, anchored by Dr. Holm Hotel (left; 32095700) considered by some as the best hotel in Norway. It exudes Old World elegance and tradition. The dinners are sumptuous affairs and breakfast is served in a skylit courtyard. The hotel has the only Shisedio SPA and wellness area in the Nordic countries and is served by a ski lift just steps from the hotel doors. The entertainment in the evenings in the lounge is delightful.

Bardola Hoyfjellshotel (32090400) is every bit as elegant as Dr. Holms, but doesn't have the slopeside location. It is about a kilometer outside of town. The Friday evening seafood buffet is beautifully presented. The attached bakery has great coffees and sweets.

Highland Hotel (32096100) is in between the two ski areas only steps from the small town. Norlandia Geilo Hotel (right; 32090511) was the first hotel in Geilo and is very comfortable. Vestlia Resort (32090611) is right at the base of Geilolia Ski centre and a good walk from the town. It has an exclusive 1000-square-meter spa. Ustedalen Hotel (32096700) is a family hotel that lies close to the Geilo Ski lift and is a kilometer from the centre of Geilo.
