If ski and snowboard resorts could be warm and fuzzy, that would describe Geilo.

This gentle resort was the first in Norway. It was built at the halfway point on the Oslo-Bergen rail line. The downhill trails are decidedly friendly — intermediate and beginner. Cross-country trails loop along the top of the hills. The hotels are Old World, plush and comfortable. The staff is smiling and helpful. And this is considered one of the best family resorts in Norway.
