Après-Ski / Nightlife
Garmisch-Partenkirchen rocks when it comes to après-ski. In Zugspitze, the brand new Gletschergarten is where everybody meets for a little après-ski before going back down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the cogwheel train. In the Classic Area, try the Café Bar Kandahar at the Kreuzeck cable car.
Of course you are in Bavaria, home of great beer and of knee-slapping, oom-pah-pah fun. For a basic Bavarian floor show try dinner at Fraundorfer in Partenkirchen (2176), or head to Werdenfelser Hof (3621). They are both on Ludwigstrasse in Partenkirchen.
Somewhat elegant après-ski can be found in the big hotels such as the Partenkirchner Hof at Enoteca - Michels Weinbar (58025) and Tenne, the Post-Taverna (51067) in the Posthotel Partenkirchen, the Mühlradl (7040) in the Obermühle Hotel or Post-Hörndl (709126; photo above) in Clausings Posthotel.
Otherwise, après-ski means a trip to the Irish Pub at the corner of the Hauptstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse (78798). This place has a great international crowd and plenty of suds and singing. For a late-night spot to party with a good bar crowd and live music, duck into the Zirbelstubn at Promenade 2 (71671).
Late night disco action pulses at Exit (4710) at Chamonixstr. 1a and Evergreen (55098) at Klammstr. 47 by the swimming pool. |
