Dining
All visitors here should have their fill of the Bavarian experience. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is full of great old Bavarian restaurants where lederhosen is part of the uniforms; beer runs freely and Schweinhaxen mit Knodln is the meal of choice. Here is a rundown on the best of the middle-of-the-road Bavarian spots. The first two restaurants have live Bavarian music and dancing.

For slightly more upscale and expensive Bavarian restaurants try Husar at Fürstenstr. 25 (1713) and Atlas Posthotel, also known as the Clausings Posthotel, (7090; photo below) at Marienplatz 12 in Garmisch, the Post Hotel Partenkirchen (93630) or the Reindl Grill Restaurant (58025) in the Partenkirchnerhof in Partenkirchner Hof in Partenkirchen on Bahnhofstra§e.
You can eat less expensively, surrounded by an international group, at the Chapeau Claque bistro, Mohrenplatz 10, (71300) which has a French flavor. Grand-Café, Klammstr. 14, (79699) serves cuisine with an Asian flare and has vegetarian menus and has a quaint bar. Café Max, Griesstr. 10, (2535) cooks excellent German meals as well as international dishes. Mukkefuck Bistro, Zugspitzstr. 3, (73440) serves wonderful salads, sandwiches on bagettes and good pasta. Kurpark-Pavillion, Am Kurpark 2, (3179) serves excellent German fare in a modern setting on the top shopping street.
Italian food is a mainstay in Germany and Garmisch-Partenkirchen has good spots to enjoy it. La Baita, Zugspitzstr. 16, (78777) has good pizzas and pastas. Colosseo, Klammstr. 7, (52809) upstairs above the Spar Supermarket has excellent Italian meals. Da Elia, Sonnenstr. 3, (73740) serves creative Italian and French bistro foods. Da Roberto, Griesstr. 12, (2829) is a cozy Italian restaurants where you get great value. Brunos Pizza Flizza, (1209) has affordable food mixed with great music during the Friday night jam sessions, plus they deliver to the hotels. The Rosen Crown at Zugspitzstr. 70 (51282) has a British pub flavor with good pub grub. Cerveceria on Von-Brug-Str. 18 (912668) serves tapas, Argentinian steaks and fancy cocktails.
Another Hotel Post (08825-211) in Wallgau, about 12 miles from Garmisch is worth the trip for the meals amidst traditional Alpine decor.
