Garmisch has excellent cross-country trails. There are 29 km. of maintained trails in the area and nearby Seefeld in Austria is considered by many to be the premier cross-country area in Europe. It was twice the site of Olympic competitions. Lermoos, Ehrwald and Biberwier are also connected with a 60- km. tracked cross-country network and linked with another 40 km. of trails in the surrounding region.

Local Loops --

Skistadium Loop - Hausberg is 4 km. for skating and classic skiing and is rated beginner.

The Hausberg Loop - Hammersbach is 8 km. long for classic skiing and is rated beginner.

A night lighted loop in Kainzenbad (near the Olympic Stadion) has 1.5 km. of beginner rated skate skiing and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Kaltenbrunn - Klais has 10 km. of both skating and classic skiing and is rated intermediate to expert for its steep ascents and descents.

Rundkurs Kaltenbrunn has 5 km. of both skating and classic. This circular cours in rated beginner to intermediate.
