Rates noted below are based on double occupancy during the high-season (February) with half pension: €€€€125+; €€€75€124; €less than €75.
Prices are around 20 percent less in low season. All-inclusive White Week packages are available during special weeks throughout the winter season. They include seven nights accommodation, six days of lifts and five days of lessons.
Park Hotel Waldhaus (081-9284848; fax 081-9284858; €€€) The best hotel in Flims. A beautiful hotel that is almost its own small village. The buildings are interconnected by covered paths and underground walkways. You can be elegant and formal or casual in this complex in the woods.
Hotel Adula (081-9282828; fax 081-9282829; €€€; photo above) In Flims, this runs a close second to the Park Hotel Waldhaus. In fact, many people prefer it because it is cozier and smaller. It has an indoor pool, sauna, fitness room and a new spa. Its Barga restau&Mac173;rant is considered one of the best in the region. The Italian restaurant La Clav costs about half as much.
Albana Sporthotel (081-9112333; fax 081-9113109; €€) is right next to the lifts.
Hotel Curtgin (081-9113566; fax 081-9113455; €€€€€), an exceptional hotel, is also near the lifts and features light, modern cuisine.
Hotel Bellevue (081-9113131; fax 081-9111232; €€-) is only about 150 yards from the lifts and has one of the best traditional Swiss restaurants in town, Bundnerstube, nestled in the hotels four-century-old cellar.
Arvenhotel Waldeck (081-9281414; fax 081- 9281415; €€; photo below right) In Flims/Waldhaus this hotel is known for its restau&Mac173;rant that features very affordable daily menus. Rooms are done in knotty pine and the ambiance is casual.
Hotel Grischuna (081-911-1139; fax 081-911412; €€) is 50 yards from the lifts.
Ferienlager Alte Säge (081-9112807; fax 081-9112841; €; photo left), only a five-minute walk from the lifts, is packed with boarders paying only €23 with breakfast in dormitory rooms. Dinners cost about €13.
In Laax the best places to stay are up at Laax-Murschetg near the lifts. Try the surprisingly affordable Hotel Laaxerhof (081-9208200; fax 081-9208210; €€) and Sporthotel Signina (081-9279000; fax 081-9279001; €€). The Laaxerhof has an indoor pool. The Sporthotel Signina has indoor tennis.
Hotel Rancho Laax (081-9271800; fax 081-9271899; €€) is, for lack of a better description, a condo-hotel. Some apartments are rented out with half-pension, others are rented as simply self-catered condos. This complex has an indoor swimming pool, fitness center and covered parking.
Garni Casa Selva (081-9212829; fax 081-9212827; €€) is a B&B near the lifts.
Budget boarders and skiers can check out dormitory beds at the Riders Palace (081-9279700, fax 081-9279701; €) where bunks can go for only €20.
Down in the village of Laax-Dorf, stay in either Arena Alva (081-9272727; fax 081-9272700; €€) or Hotel Bellaval (081-9214700; fax 081-9214855; €€).
For a unique experience you can stay at the highest hotel in the Alps, Crap Sogn, Gion Mountain Hostel (081-9277373; fax 081-9277374; €€€). Sleep at an altitude of 7,309 feet in the summit station of the cable car.
Apartments, condominiums, flats
Flims, Laax and Falera are well organized to handle apartment rentals. Apartments are normally rented out for a minimum stay of one week, Saturday to Saturday; in the Christmas and Easter seasons a minimum two-week rental is often required.
The tourist office keeps a computerized, updated listing of available apartments. When writing, include the number of beds required, the preferred number of rooms, and your planned vacation dates. You will receive a quick response that lists a selection of apartments and prices. Select your apartment and contact Flims Tourism.
Normally, linen and kitchen utensils are provided. Other communal or private amenities, such as swimming pool, sauna, TV or room phone all add to the cost. Apartments rent for CHF40CHF300 per person a night.
