Head to Nouvelle Rotisserie (027-481-1885) for delicious food from its owner Mrs. Frances Massy who is renowned for her fresh food, and Le Sporting (027-481-1177) has top French and Italian food. L’Hostellerie du Pas-de-l’Ours (027-485-9333) in Crans has a Michelin star.

For more moderately priced meals, try the rustic Le Bistrot des Ours (027-485-9333). Hotel Aida (027-485-4111) and La Diligence (0274-859-985) have beautiful rustic settings. Affordable hotel restaurants in Crans are La Prairie (0274-854-141), Eden (027-480-1171), Splendide (027-481-2056) and Des Alpes (027-481-3754).

In Montana head to de la Foret (027-480-2131) for a good meal. Also try Mont-Plaisible (027-480-2161; photo right). The budget crowd should indulge at the Brasserie “Le Green” (027-485-8787). Almost all the pizzerias have good, budget dining.

On the mountain at Plans Mayens, for great meals stop at Le Mont-Blanc (027-481-3143) or La Dent Blanche (027-481-1179) which specializes in raclette au feu de bois (raclette in front of a fire). Make reservations to ensure a table. Rustic restaurant Le Cervin (027-481-2180) at Vermala is excellent for fondue and raclette and has an atmosphere you can’t beat. Try the lunch menus at Les Violettes and Bella-Lui and Chez Erwin. The scenery from La Plaine Morte restaurant ((027-481-3626) on the glacier and Cry d’Err (027-481-2410) is the stuff of which memories are made.

In the town of Bluche, just below Montana, try the small Petit Paradis (027-481-2148) that offers good basic meals at a great value.
