Other activities

The three towns have a great variety of outdoor recreation. A day trip to Salzburg with a tour down the salt mines is one of the preferred outings. Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein are famed hot springs. Take time to enjoy the hot springs during your visit.

For non-skiers, the view from the Schlossalm at 7,000 feet is worth the ride up from Bad Hofgastein. In Bad Gastein, visit the Nikolauskirche built in the 15th century. This church, now not in use, has an unusual star-shaped vaulted nave, several interesting murals and is built around a central pillar.

In Bad Hofgastein the Gothic church with its high vaulted ceiling is worth a visit. Dorfgastein also has an interesting parish church dating back to the 14th century.
