Arcotel Elisabethpark (25510, fax 255110 ; €€€) has plenty of amenities, but not much Austrian flavor.

Hoteldorf Grüner Baum (tel./fax 25160; €€€) was once the Archduke’s hunting lodge. It is set five km. outside of town and is one of the great Austrian hotels.

Kurhotel Salzburgerhof (6230, fax 623070; €€€) comes highly recommended by Americans and British alike. Hotel Wildbad (37610, fax 376170 ; €€–€€€) has a spa and is located in the center of town.

These hotels are all convenient to the lifts: Bärenhof (3366; €€), Hotel Eden (2076; €€), Pension Gabriele (4411) and Kur- und Sportpension Kerschbaumer (2433, fax 243319; €€).

Chalet Wetzlgut (2065, fax 206570 ; €€) is an apartment group right under the lift. Haus Elfi (4662, fax 46622; €) is a B&B right at the base of the Stubnerkogelbahn.

Bad Hofgastein
Try the Hotel Alpina (06432-8475, fax 06432-847570; €€€), Hotel Oster-reichischer Hof (06432-6216, fax 06432-621651; €€+) with a country manor atmosphere, and Hotel St. Georg (61000, fax 610061; €€€; photo right).

Good and less expensive hotels are Kurpark Hotel (6301; €€), Bayrischer Hof (86460; €€), Hotel Austria (6223; €€), and Berglift (6219, fax 85044; €).

B&Bs with excellent locations are Pension Angerer (tel./fax2020; €), Gstrein (6485, fax 648527; €), Haus Lenk (6740; €) and Haus Regina (3130, fax 3129; €).
