Arosa has a hotel for everyonefrom the most luxurious to the bargain one-star. Price ranges noted for each hotel double occupancy with half board (breakfast and dinner) during middle season: five starCHF600+/-; four starCHF360+/-; three starCHF300+/-; two starCHF230; one star-CHF200+/-.
Recommended five-star hotels: Arosa Kulm Hotel (081-3788888; €€€; photo left); Tschuggen Grand Hotel (081-3789999; €€€) where you can indulge your inner diva with designer furniture and where each floor has its own color scheme. The Tschuggen has a wonderful new spa, Bergoase.

Our recommended four-star hotels are: Sporthotel Valsana (081-3786363) by the lake, with a good restaurant and child care.
Waldhotel National (081-3785555) a bit back in the woods, nevertheless considered excellent. Their chef is a rising star and the meals are wonderful. The hotel is according to guests, one of the most family-friendly hotels at any ski resort.
For 4-star ski-in/ski-out convenience and wonder Swiss atmosphere head to the Pratschli (081-3788080) or to the Golf-& Sport Hotel Hof Maran (081-3785151).
Hotel Eden (081-3787100) young and bright and one of the nightlife centers of the town. It is only steps from the shuttlebus stop and the cable car.
The three-star hotels most convenient to the lifts are: Alpina (081-377168; €) recently restored and beautiful; Astoria (081-3787272) homey and picturesque with all the modern conveniences and great service; Hotel Asora (018-3771208) about 200 meters from the railway station with wonderful food; Hohe Promenade (081-3787700); Hotel Sonnenhalde (081-377 15 31) unpretentious and one bus stop away from the village center; Arve Central (081-3785252).
The Best Western Hotel Hohenfels (081-3785656; left) is one of the real bargains of Arosa. The decor is rather modern and the owner is passionate about food, hence, excellent half-pension meals. Only drawback is the hike to the lifts with equipment.
Gspan (081-3771494) is a unique experience in the midst of the slopes and filled with Alipne atmopsphere. Ask about possiblities for half-pension.
Our recommended two-star hotels: Erzhorn (081-3771526); the Hold (081-377408) family-run and next to the ski instruction area; or Carmenna (081-3771766) modest, party central for young people and across the street from the Obersee.
The younger set seems to congregate in the Obersee part of town. For good bargain lodging try Garni The Lindemann's (079-6819383), Seehof (081-3771541) and Hotel Vetter (081-3771702). Party central is the Hotel Carmenna (081-3771766) with the disco Im Gada nest to their restaurant. These hotels are all near the cable car and the railway station.
There are two Youth Hostals Downtown (081-3771397) and the Mountain Lodge (081-3788423) their prices of about Sfr161-181 a night includes a 2-day lift ticket breakfast and dinner.
Apartments, condominiums, flats
Arosa is well organized to handle tourists who want to rent apartments during the ski season, normally for a minimum of one week, Saturday to Saturday. During the Christmas season a minimum two-week rental is required.
The tourist office keeps track of available apartments. When writing, include the number of beds re-quired, the preferred number of rooms, and your planned vacation dates. You will receive a quick response that lists a selection of apartments and prices. Pick your apartment and contact the owner.
Normally linen and kitchen utensils are provided. Other amenities, such as swimming pool, sauna, TV or room phone all add to the cost. Standard apartments rent for €35 to €60 per person a night. Prices vary significantly from low to high season.
