The Arlberg including Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Austria

Arlberg, Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Austria - --    Other activities

In addition to downhill skiing, there’s tobaganning, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, walking and skating. Heliskiing is available in Lech and Zürs.

On Tuesday and Thursday the cable car takes rodelers (tobogganers) to Gampen.

An adventure for those from the modest U.S. is to partake of the glorious spas in the more luxurious hotels. While hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas are a civilized way to end a ski day and soothe tired muscles, Americans need to be forewarned that Europeans enjoy these in the altogether. Nobody minds if you wear a bathing suit or cover yourself modestly with a towel, but you will be the one who stands out in the crowd.

St. Anton (2380) and Lech offer horse-drawn sleigh rides through the forest. The price for up to five people is around €70 for about an hour. Other activities include swimming, tennis and sightseeing. Shopping in the resorts includes authentic Austrian garb, designer wear in Lech, but is limited to ski wear and souvenirs elsewhere.
