The Arlberg including Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Austria

Après-Ski / Nightlife

St. Anton and St. Christoph
In St. Anton’s pedestrian zone, you’ll be able to find something that suits your night tastes by simply taking a stroll. There are dozens of small bars and gasthofs. Drinking tends toward beer and schnapps.

At the Mooserwirt, happy hour (or tea-time) has skiers bouncing off the walls and the outside terrace. It’s tough to reach on foot; partyers who can’t stand on their own two skis have been known to take the tops of the picnic tables and sled back into town.

Stop by the Krazy Kanguruh, with its reputation as one of the region’s two wildest watering holes. We can’t praise it wholeheartedly. It’s wild, but away from the center of town, and Bo don’t know crowded till he gets there. Buy a “bullet” from a scantily-clad waitress, which she will pour down your throat to the cheers of onlookers.

Closer to town and somewhat more sedate are the hangouts at the Alte Post Hotel and the Hotel Post (photo left). On the Alte Post’s outside terrace, you can sip Glühwein and watch the last of the sun’s rays climb up the peaks, or you can sweat it out in the Hotel Post’s two basement bars. Both feature live music, but one attracts the heavy drinking, heavy smoking, young crowd, while in the other a slightly older group disco and polka ski-kinks away.

Check out the traditional and cozy Sennhütte with live music. Try a Little Willy, a ski pole filled with Williams schnapps. Don't think this place is quiet and peaceful, it can get crazy at tea-time.

The Hotel Anton opposite the Galzigbahn is getting pretty trendy and is a place to see and be seen.

If you are looking for a place where you can gaze longingly into your spouse’s eyes, head into one of the hotel bars. They tend to be much quieter.

You'll also find good après ski at Jacksy’s, and the Alibi, a small, offbeat bar with the enticing sign, “Men—No Shirt, No Service, Women—No Shirt, Free Drinks!”

Late night discos and karaoke bars are everywhere—try your best off-slope maneuvers in the Picadilly or the Hazienda.

Après-ski/nightlife—Lech and Zürs
Lech and Zürs nightlife photo, Arlberg, St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, AustriaIn Lech, après-ski begins on the slopes in Oberlech and often includes champagne as the drink of choice, especially at Hotel Montana. You’ll find fun and friendly tea-time crowds of all ages at Hotel Burg and Hotel Sonnenburg, both located thankfully close to the tram.

Once down in Lech, choose wild and crazy at the Tannbergerhof—be prepared to dance in your ski boots outside at the ice bar to oompah music—or more sedate (relatively speaking) at the s’Pfefferkörndl, which gets going later in the evening.

After dinner, head to the jazz café and night club with the unfortunate name (in English anyway), Fux, right on the river. It has become quite the “cool” spot. The avant-garde wooden architecture is a real contrast to conservative Lech. It has two different bars all beating to disco and an excellent cigar bar.

A more chic after-hours address is the Hotel Krone where there is the Side Step disco and a local crowd. Disco action pulses at the Scotch Club in the Hotel Arlberg and zither music is played Sundays in the Gasthof Post that is much quieter, and fun.

Zürs has a disco in the Zurserl disco in Hotel Edelweiss. The insider spot is Vernissage. The piano bar in the Hotel Thurnhers Alpenhof is pleasant and Ambiente fills up for tea time and après-ski in the Sporthotel Zürsersee.
